LASIK Eye Surgery

LASIK is a corneal reshaping procedure that combines the precision of excimer laser technology with the rapid visual recovery of making a corneal flap. Because of its improved accuracy, safety, and fast recovery time, LASIK surgery has become the procedure of choice for correcting a large variety of refractive errors throughout much of the world.

Custom Wavefront LASIK

Until now, laser vision correction treatment was based on diagnostic technology similar to that used for the prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses. The new CustomVue™ System at LaserVue Eye Center takes laser vision correction to an entirely new, personalized level by combining exclusive personalized diagnostic technology and the Excimer laser into one system.

Intralase Blade-Free LASIK

All-Laser Lasik, also called "IntraLasik", is exactly like traditional conventional or custom wavefront Lasik,, except the corneal flap is created with a femtosecond laser microkeratome rather than a mechanical microkeratome with a metal blade. The IntraLasik name comes from a combination of the name of a femtosecond laser manufacturer, Intralase, and Lasik.

NearVision, CK

NearVision CK uses radio waves, instead of a laser or scalpel, to reshape the cornea and bring near vision back into focus. NearVision CK is performed using a small probe, thinner than a strand of human hair, that releases radio waves. The probe is applied in a circular pattern on the outer cornea to shrink small areas of collagen. This circular shrinkage pattern creates a constrictive band (like the tightening of a belt), increasing the overall curvature of the cornea. The procedure, which takes less than three minutes, is done in-office with only topical anesthesia (eye drops).

PRK, LASEK, Epi-LASIK

PRK (photo-refractive keratectomy), LASEK (laser epithelial keratomileusis) & Epi-LASIK are all variations of surface ablation procedures using the excimer laser to reshape the surface of the cornea (no microkeratome), rather than the interior as in LASIK. PRK was the first FDA-approved procedure changing the curvature of the cornea with the excimer laser. The initial PRK procedures date back to 1990.
