Keep your eyes healthy
Today the world has become quite health conscious by engaging in exercise and proper nutrition. However, one area in which we often lack the same motivation is caring for our eyes. Our eyes are the windows to the world, we only get one set. Ensuring they are properly maintained against disease, they should also be part and parcel of our overall health.

Nowadays with the new discoveries of harmful rays we are more careful than before for protecting our eyes. Here are some ways to be sure your eyes stay healthy throughout your lifetime and maintain the health of your eyes and preserve your eyesight. You can't change your genetics or hereditary conditions. However you can control your lifestyle.

Our eyes can protect itself from any dusts or small particles in the air, that's why we have eyelashes to catch the dirt but how about the sunlight? Does eyelids and eyelashes enough to protect your eyes? Well, long time ago it's fine but now the Earth is more polluted and dirty to even just look around in your corner. And many gadgets and accessories that you can use to protect your eyes. So why not try those new hot summer sunglasses or maybe wear some eye contact lenses. Let's go with the flow of today's new fashion in life.

Protect your eyes from ultraviolet rays from the sun. Wear 100% UV sunglasses, prescription glasses with UV coating outdoors as much as possible. Too much exposure to UV rays can cause inflammation on the white of your eyes, inflame the cornea, cause cataracts and increase risk of age-related macular degeneration.

You may not know it, but vitamin A is critical for good eye health. Carrots are a great source of vitamin A so try to eat them as much as possible. If you can't get vitamin A through your diet than make sure to take a supplement. Whether you choose fruits or vegetables or both, this can help enormously in the prevention of eye disease. If you don't like carrots you can grate them and add them to sauces or blend them up in your favorite smoothie. That way you won't even notice them and you'll get all their benefits.

Smoking increases your risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, optic nerve disease, retina hemorrhage and retina swelling. These conditions could cause permanent loss of vision. If you don't smoke, avoid second hand smoke.

Get annual eye examinations, even if you "see fine" and "feel fine". Everyone should have their vision checked and eye health checked yearly. Many eye conditions are asymptomatic. Many eye conditions that are asymptomatic have systemic implications. Many eye conditions reveal an undiagnosed systemic condition.

Floaters

Floaters are particles that seem to be in front of the eye but are actually floating in the vitreous humor, which is the transparent gel-like fluid that fills the inside cavity of the eyeball between the lens and the retina.

Floaters appear as different shapes to different people. They can look like small dots, circles, lines, clouds, or cobwebs. Some floaters appear to be strung together with a web-like thread. Floaters are actually shadows cast on the retina, the nerve layer at the back of the eye that senses light and allows you to see. Many people occasionally experience the sensation of spots floating in their field of vision, especially when looking at the sky or at a blank background. These spots usually come and go in very short order; but as you mature, the spots can appear more frequently.

Most floaters are harmless. However, they can also be symptomatic of serious retinal problems such as diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration. These conditions can lead to a retinal tear or a retinal detachment, both of which are a more serious situation because either can lead to partial or complete loss of vision. Consult your eye doctor if spots or floaters suddenly increase in number or frequency. Also, if the spots appear fixed and do not move around when you move your head or eyes, they may be a sign of macular degeneration and should be checked.

Treatment

Normally, there is no treatment indicated.

  • Vitrectomy may be successful in treating more severe cases, however, the procedure is typically not warranted in those with lesser symptoms due to the potential for complications as severe as blindness. Floaters may become less annoying as sufferers grow accustomed to them, even to the extent that they may no longer notice them.

  • There is also Sutureless Vitrectomy, as the standard vitrectomy involves cutting through the conjunctiva, or fleshy part of the front of the eye, and making openings in the pars plana area which require stitches at the end of the surgery. In the sutureless technique, small tubes or canulas or trochars are placed through the pars plana area and very tiny instruments are placed through these tubes. Once the surgery is complete, the tubes are removed and no stitches are needed. Only in certain cases can sutureless vitrectomy surgery be performed.

  • Another treatment is laser vitreolysis. In this procedure a powerful laser (usually a Yttrium aluminium garnet laser) is focused onto the floater and in a quick burst vaporizes the structure into a less dense and not as noticeable consistency.

Cosmetic contact lenses

To modify the look of the eye a cosmetic contact lens is considered to be one of the best solutions. These lenses can also correct the vision, but some blurring or barrier of vision could take place as a result of the color or design. Cosmetic colored contacts can also be used to expand your pupils relatively and significantly or even make your eyes glow in the dark. These are mostly used by people who go clubbing and partying in the disc.

These contact lenses have been planned to give you the best of the worlds by allowing you to either completely change the color of you eyes or just improve the natural color of your eyes. They are manufactured using a soft ceramic lens for maximum comfort without compromising your vision.

Soft lenses are often used in the treatment and management of non-refractive disorders of the eye. A bandage contact lens protects an injured or diseased cornea from the constant rubbing of blinking eyelids thereby allowing it to heal. They are used in the treatment of conditions including bullous keratopathy, dry eyes, corneal ulcers and erosion, keratitis, corneal edema. Contact lenses that carry drugs to the eye have also been developed.

Cosmetic contact lens type is theatrical contact lenses that are used mostly in the entertainment business to create the eye appear lovely, extraordinary or unnatural in appearance most frequently in shock and robot movies, where lenses can make one's eyes appear demonic, dull and motionless, or even to make the pupils of the wearer appear dilated to create the natural appearance of the pupils under the influence of different illegal drugs.

A scleral lens is a huge kind of contact lens .Scleral lenses are designed to take care of a variety of eye conditions which do not respond to other forms of treatment.

Scleral lenses cover the white part of the eye (i.e. sclera) and are used in a lot of theatrical lenses. Due to their size, these lenses are difficult to insert and do not move very well within the eye. They can in addition obstruct the vision as the lens has a small area for the user to observe throughout. As a consequence they usually cannot be worn for more than 3 hours as they are able to cause short-term vision disorder.

Similar lenses have more direct medical applications. For example, some lenses can give the iris an enlarged appearance, or mask defects such as absence or injure to the iris.

Even though lots of brand of contact lenses are lightly tinted to make them easier to hold, cosmetic lenses worn to change the color of the eye are far less common. Two types of cosmetic lenses are color contact lenses and special effects contact lenses.

It is very significant to take suitable care for Cosmetic contact lens. Few steps for taking care are as follows -

  1. Always wash your hands before handling contact lenses.

  2. Always use fresh lens care solutions that are recommended by your eye care professional.

  3. Not at all use tap water, which can host injurious germs.

  4. And for all time carry out all three care steps each time you take away your lenses from your eyes: clean, rinse and make germ-free.

Botox

Botox the short form for Botulinum Toxin, which is a strain of botulism, a powerful poison. When a minute amount of Botox is injected into a muscle, it weakens the muscle contraction. Botox is often used for treatment of Benign Essential Tremor, Spasmodic Dysphonia, and infrequently Muscle Tension Dysphonia. It is a highly toxic poison that is used to temporarily reduce the number of deep wrinkles around the mouth, around the eyes, by the nose, and on the forehead.

Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the clostridium botulinum bacterium, and it must be administered by an authorized healthcare professional. Botox Cosmetic is mostly used to reduce frown lines between the eyebrows. It is injected into the muscle and temporarily paralyzes it, making it impossible to use that muscle until the Botox wears off about 4 months later.

Food and Drug Administration approved Botox as safe and is used in the treatment of spasms and involuntary muscle contractions which are commonly seen in the likes of blepharospasm, cervical dystonia and strabismus. Even though Botox is a specific commercial product the word is used more generally to describe the popular skin care treatment to reduce facial wrinkles and fine lines.

For the last few years Botox has grown in popularity to such a degree that people now attend "Botox Parties". At these parties people have the treatment in a social rather than a medical setting. This phenomenon has alarmed the FDA who have responded by warning that having the treatment while consuming alcohol is dangerous as it causes an increase in bruising.

Although Botox is the most popular substance used in this anti-aging treatment there are other products by other companies such as the Dysport brand which can be used as an alternative. Although the procedure produces amazing results the dramatic removal of the ability of making facial expressions is removed. Subsequently many people prefer to have different anti-wrinkle treatments such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels.

Doctors treat millions of Americans with Botox cosmetic every year to reduce the appearance of frown lines on their face. Botox provides a safe, inexpensive and fast treatment option. If your favorite celebrity or close friend has inspired you to think about getting Botox injections, some basic preparation can ensure that you get the most from your treatment. Read on to learn how to get Botox treatments for women.

The FDA approved Botox for reducing frown lines between the brows in people ages 18 to 65. If you have concerns about other facial lines, ask your doctor about alternatives to Botox.
